Custom Bag: Large Carrier Tote Convertible Backpack For Travel With Passport Pocket and Luggage Lock (9 Pockets)

Cass in Brooklyn, New York contacted me about a custom Carrier Tote for her travels. She liked the backpack straps option, but also wanted a few special features she saw on previous blog posts. These included an a back zipper pocket with a passport slot, interior zipper pocket, interior key clip, and a 2″ leather zipper pull.

When travelling or for everyday use, having the backpack straps option to be hands-free is very useful. With this added option, the Carrier Tote can be worn as a shoulder tote, crossbody bag or a backpack.

When not in use, the backpack straps can be adjusted to the shortest length. I didn’t make the straps detachable for egonomic reasons and I find that it’s easier to convert to a backpack this way.

Cass wanted a back zippered pocket for her belongings. Within this pocket, I also made a passport slot.

The interior of the bag comes standard with 5 pockets to organize your belongings: 2 water bottle pockets, 2 medium and 1 large pocket. However, Cass also wanted to add an interior zippered pocket.

Another request I’ve had a few times now is to add a leather pull to the zipper head. Avid travel customers, like Cass, want to secure a luggage lock to the D-ring (where the crossbody stap attaches). I never thought of that and it’s a brilliant idea!

On my last trip to Vancouver, I wanted to try this great idea from customers. What I found was that I could secure the luggage lock without having that added leather pull for extension. So, this would also work with any of the larger size bags in the shop, such as the Utility Tote, Commuter Bag and the Roll-Top Bag.

This was also a special request from Cass. She wanted an interior key clip. This would give her 2 options to either keep her keys securely inside the bag or attached to the outside key D-ring.

All the medium and large size bags that I make come with a D-ring key attachment. Keep your keys securely attached and easy to reach.

The Carrier Tote comes with a leather detachable and adjustable crossbody strap. Take it off when you want to use it as a shoulder tote or backpack, in this case.
