75% Mechanical Keyboard Case or Sleeve: For Keychron K3 Pro and Roost V3 Laptop Stand

Edward from Portland, Oregon wrote in to see if we could help him with a carrying solution for his Keychron K3 Pro mechanical keyboard and a foldable laptop stand. As you may know, I’m a big fan of compact things that work well, like my Brompton bike. I’ve never seen a laptop stand this compact, so I was intrigued.

I have posted before about a case for the Keychron K3 for a customer in Australia. The keyboard itself fits into the 60% (standard bezel) sleeve. The Keychron K3 Pro is a newer improved model of that. It’s actually a low-profile 75% that still fits into a 60% sleeve. However, how to carry a laptop stand with it is the question…

I consulted with Christian (my husband and keyboard enthusiast) about this one. The Roost V3 laptop stand is 13-inches in length. The only way this would work is if the keyboard and folded laptop stand go into a case or sleeve beside each other. It would fit into a 75% Large case that way. The 75% Large is the second biggest case that I make, besides the TKL Carry Case, so that was our recommendation.

Edward went ahead and ordered one in a really nice custom colour combination; charcoal grey with red bottom and handle with a black leather pull tab.

The mechanical keyboard cases and travel bags in the shop are made out of lightly water resistant waxed canvas and English bridle leather.

Initially, Christian and I were wondering if the front pocket could fit the laptop stand, but this was not ideal. Having the keyboard and stand together inside the case would be much better.

I really like seeing how people carry things and set up for work. I’ve never seen this laptop stand before, so that’s something new I learned about. We’re happy to be able to find a solution for Edward on this one.
