Summer 2025: To Downtown Toronto By Train

I’m glad I was able to take a few days off with they boys before the Trump tariffs were announced. It was good to be back in Toronto and we had a great time. I like how busy and lively the city is.

Christian brought his Roll-Top Bag/Backpack. We love taking the VIA train for our regional trips. Normally, it takes about 4.5 hours to get to downtown Toronto from Ottawa.

It’s the 3rd week of August and the weather is unsettled. It’s starting to cool down from the long heatwave we’ve had in the region.

We took the late morning train and arrived at Union Station late in the afternoon (with a 30 minute delay). It’s a beautiful building, the largest train station in Canada.

Taking an evening stroll in downtown after dinner.

It’s just before dark and the buidings start to light up. There’s the Canada Life Building. If you look behind it, you can get a glimpse of the iconic CN Tower.

I love to walk, so we walked everywhere in downtown without taking transit. We walked by the Art Gallery of Ontario on the way to Chinatown for lunch.

I brought the Utility Tote (with backpack straps) for this trip. It’s actually a bag I use often when I go on day trips and travel.

I’ve never been on a streetcar. As a child, I would go to Toronto (from Vancouver) every 2-3 years to visit my grandparents and my mom’s family. Downtown is so convenient to walk everywhere, we just never rode it.

Toronto has an enormous selection of every kind of cuisine you can think of. We had one of our lunches at Kibo Sushi at Liberty Village (outside of downtown). It was very good.

We took the GO regional train to the Canadian National Exhibition (10 minutes from downtown). It’s Canada’s largest fair that runs during the last 2 weeks of August.

I’ve never been here when I was young. I thought it would be fun to take the boys while they’re still interested. They had so much fun.

I hope you had some time off during the summer. Now it’s back to routine. For us, we are getting closer to figuring out how to ship to the US I should be able to provide an update soon.
