Custom Case: 65% Mechanical Keyboard Case in Olive Green and Yellow

The weather is changing, we are all waiting for the results of the US election and battling the so-called 2nd wave of the coronavirus globally.  Sometimes it can all be a bit much. I find that being productive is the best way of remaining sane at this time.

I worked on this case recently which brought some cheer when I finished it.  This is a custom 65% mechanical keyboard case or sleeve for David in Kitchener, Ontario (also my home province in Canada).  I love the colour combination he chose: olive green, a yellow bottom and handle with a black leather pull tab.  It’s a unique combination that I wouldn’t have thought of.  It turned out great! That pop of yellow really stands out.  Since the weather is getting colder, it makes me think about the evergreen trees and the sunny cold days in Eastern Canada.  A beautiful landscape.

The exterior of the case is a lightly waxed premium canvas that has water resistant properties. I use a beautiful bridle leather (vegetable tanned) for the pull tabs.  I find it very important to use natural materials for it’s beauty and sustainable reasons.  Trust me, it wasn’t easy finding a material that is water resistant without it being a synthetic fibre.

It has a front pocket to keep your cords and small items in.  As you can see, the case has a flap closure with a heavy duty magnetic snap for security.  People tell me they love playing with the snap; snapping it on and off just to listen to the sound and the feel of the magnet coming together.  That’s an interesting pastime…  I suppose I shouldn’t be too surprised, since how the keys sound when pressed on the keyboards are really important to the users.

It is lined with a soft 100% cotton twill. What I really like about this fabric is that it is fine and it doesn’t leave any loose fibres on your keyboard. I have been using it for over 7 years, since I started my bag business and I haven’t found anything better.
